Seeing Stars

Hi everyone! Excited to get new posts up on the blog for you all.

As 2017 has begun, I have been reminiscing about why I started my blog two years ago. Lately, I have been feeling discouraged by comparison to other bloggers, the anxiety of posting on social media and the inability to keep up with new trends, taking photos etc. I felt like I lost the joy that came from sharing with my passion for creativity, but before deciding to take a full-on break I re-read some old encouragement from when I began my blog (previously titled Stylist in Seattle). I was thrilled to share my ideas, and to have a space to display my projects and possibly (hopefully) inspire others with them. I had to remind myself of the reason I wanted to start this blog to remind myself why I should keep up with it. Fashion – the design, the expression, the art, the history… it all inspires me. One of my favorite quotes which is by Elizabeth Gilbert is “the hunt to uncover those jewels (the hidden treasures within us) is creative living. It is living a life that is more strongly by curiosity than by fear”. We must drive ourselves with curiosity, passion and fearlessness in pursuit of what we love. Never give anyone or anything the power to make you feel devalued.

This year I am excited to see the future unfold, and I hope I can move forward with you all in the most authentic & creative way possible!

Alright, back to the trends ;)

As I hope you all saw about a week ago, Emma Stone rocked the most amazing star embellished gown down the red carpet at the Golden Globes (if not, see image here). Turns out Emma Stone wasn’t just a stunner; she was also a trend setter. Star prints are rising and will have us seeing stars all through the spring season. I love this unique print, and styled a romantic retro look with it by pairing a pastel star print blouse with crop denim, blush kitten heels and circle shades. Another starry eyed look I styled was with a star print wrap dress. I paired with ankle booties and the same round sunnies! How would you wear your stars?
